SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2010

Location:  Double Tree Hotel in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Wisconsin Association of Guide Dog Users (WAGDU) is hosting a first-time Service Dog Seminar of it's type in the Midwest to better help educate service dog team handlers, puppy raisers, trainers, professionals, business owners, and advocates about the recently passed laws changing the definition of service dogs under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Robin Jones with the Great Lakes Disability, Business and Technical Assistance Center is our keynote speaker who will not only explore the new definition of service dog, but how it compares and contrasts with other Federal laws such as the Air Carrier Act, Fair Housing Act, and much more.

Our second keynote speaker is James Drinan with the Wisconsin Equal Rights Division (Milwaukee office) who will be covering what protections the Wisconsin laws provide to service dog teams.  We will also have a number of other service dog agencies from Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois in attendance who will present on the training techniques they use to train specific types of service dogs such as mobility service, seizure alert, and
dogs for individuals with autism just for example.

We have a great line up of speakers and a raffle of a Nintendo WIII and additionally, we will be conducting a Wag-A-thon walk on Sunday morning, and invite all service dog teams and friends to join as we stroll through downtown Milwaukee.

WAGDU is offering 40 - $25 scholarships to the first individuals who register with their service dog.  Raffle tickets are available at a cost of $2 each or 3 for $5.
